{"id":71,"date":"2023-10-09T14:48:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T14:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mmmts.com\/blog\/?p=71"},"modified":"2026-06-11T09:03:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T09:03:54","slug":"emotional-intelligence-leadership-the-key-to-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mmmts.com\/blog\/emotional-intelligence-leadership-the-key-to-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Emotional Intelligence Leadership \u2013 The Key to Success"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assuming that\u00a0<strong>Emotional Intelligence\u00a0<\/strong>is directly linked to leadership, there are three questions that need to be answered:<br>\u2022 What is\u00a0<strong>Emotional Intelligence?<\/strong><br>\u2022 Why is it important?<br>\u2022 How can\u00a0<strong>Emotional Intelligence Quotient\u00a0<\/strong>be increased?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We looked at the answer to the first question in my previous article titled,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmmts.com\/emotional-intelligence-training.htm\">What Is Emotional Intelligence?\u00a0<\/a>Let us now look at the answer to the second question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Emotional Intelligence\u00a0<\/strong>is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmmts.com\/soft-skills-training.htm\"><strong>soft skill,\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>and the good thing about it is that it can be increased with consistent effort. This is more the reason that it needs to be worked upon. Since it is not a fixed trait, we can continue to develop it as we learn from what we experience in all areas of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take, for example, a group of senior managers applying for a top position. They might all have MBAs but what characteristic will make them stand apart as the most successful leader? It has been established that the following kind of people \u2013 those who display high EQ \u2013 make it to the top:<br>\u2022 Ability to create resonance with others<br>\u2022 Display of empathy<br>\u2022 Ability to inspire<br>\u2022 Awareness of one\u2019s abilities and shortfalls and confidently managing these to their best ability<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research undertaken by eminent scientists and psychologists, Hay\/McBer and Goleman, concluded that the two main reasons for executive failure are:<br>\u2022 Rigidity (unable to adapt or take on board feedback and learn)<br>\u2022 Poor relationships (alienating others) This re-instates the importance of\u00a0<strong>Emotional Intelligence<\/strong>\u00a0in the present world.
