Cold Fusion was started by
Allaire in 1995 as a DBML (Database markup language). Because
of its high performance when accessing any database and
easiness to develop an application, ColdFusion software makes
internet application development and deployment faster and easier
than any other solution available today. More than 300,000 developers
at over 10,000 companies worldwide rely on ColdFusion to quickly
build and deploy powerful Internet applications, making ColdFusion
one of the most widely adopted web technologies in the industry.
Hence in today’s IT driven economy Cold fusion
training is of great importance.
-
As the world's first commercially available
web application server when it was shipped in 1995, Macromedia®
ColdFusion dramatically simplified the process of dynamically
publishing database content on web pages. In subsequent releases,
the functionality of Cold Fusion expanded beyond
database connectivity to include a broad collection of out-of-the-box
services for building all kinds of Internet applications.
-
Now in the Adobe product family, ColdFusion
continues to get better with every release. Coldfusion
has evolved from version after version (3.5 to 4.0 to 4.5 to
5.0). The next major release was 6.0. This was completely based
on Java based technology. The current latest version of Coldfusion
is CF 8.0
-
ColdFusion is most often used
for data-driven web sites or intranets, but can also be used
to generate remote services such as SOAP web services or Flash
Remoting. ColdFusion can also handle asynchronous events such
as SMS and instant messaging via its gateway interface, available
in ColdFusion MX 7 Enterprise Edition.
-
ColdFusion provides a number of value-added
services out of the box. Among them:
o Conversion from HTML to PDF and FlashPaper
o Client-side code generation, especially for form widgets and
validation
o Platform-independent database querying via ODBC or JDBC
o Data retrieval from common enterprise systems such as Active
Directory, LDAP, POP, HTTP, FTP,
Microsoft Exchange Server
o Client and server cache management
o Session, client, and application management
o File indexing and searching service based on Verity K2
o XML parsing, querying, and validation
o Server clustering
o GUI administration
o Task scheduling
